Epoxy floor resurfacing involves preparing worn or damaged epoxy and applying a new resinous system over it. The process includes mechanical abrasion, removal of loose material, and bonding a new coating to the cleaned surface. The result is a renewed, seamless floor that restores appearance and performance without full removal.
Each resurfacing project starts with a full evaluation of the existing floor. George Tsinias, owner of USA Epoxy Floors, checks for issues like delamination, cracks, localized coating failure, or underlying moisture problems. Moisture testing and adhesion screening determine whether repair, recoat, or full removal is needed. Every surface is mechanically prepared: diamond grinders open the profile to the right CSP, all loose and weak coating is removed, and cracks or damage are repaired with suitable fillers or patching compounds. This ensures the substrate is ready to accept a new resinous layer. Once the slab is stabilized and cleaned, a primer is applied to anchor the new system. George matches the resurfacing method and coating chemistry to the use case, garage, commercial, or industrial, including any decorative media or slip resistance required. The process may involve applying a pigmented base coat, broadcasting flake or quartz for texture, or pouring a fresh self-leveling epoxy. Finally, a high-build topcoat provides protection against abrasion and chemicals. Every layer is timed within its recoat window to ensure adhesion and performance. After installation, the new surface is inspected for film uniformity, edge detail, and coverage of previous defects. The finished floor looks like a new installation and delivers performance matched to the space. Customers gain a new, high-functioning epoxy system without the cost and downtime of tearing out the original floor.
USA Epoxy Floors provides epoxy floor resurfacing as an option for floors that are structurally sound but have cosmetic damage, minor failures, or worn finishes. This service involves cleaning, mechanical abrasion, and system-matched resurfacing rather than complete removal, saving time and limiting disruption in active spaces.
Resurfacing addresses common failures such as peeling, hot tire pickup in garages, chemical burns, or impact wear. All failed and loose material is mechanically removed. Surfaces are ground and prepared to specification before new coatings go down, preventing old issues from reappearing in the new layer.
George selects new resinous systems that match what the environment demands, chemical-resistant for shop floors, slip-safe for commercial kitchens, or decorative for residential garages. Every resurfacing job is built to restore not just the look but the function the property needs.

More About Us
Yes. Dutchess and communities across Dutchess County, New York. USA Epoxy Floors has been doing this work since 2001 and travels throughout the region for it, residential and commercial alike.
The space is cleared, the slab is inspected and profiled mechanically, repairs go in, and the coating system is applied in stages. Cure windows between coats are part of the schedule, not delays. At the end the floor is walked through together before the job closes.
Usually. The existing coating comes off mechanically, and the slab underneath is inspected to identify why the previous system failed. Poor preparation and moisture vapor account for most failures. The cause is addressed before a new system goes down.
It depends on the floor. Epoxy builds thicker and bonds deep; polyaspartic cures quickly, tolerates colder installs, and resists UV yellowing. Many jobs use an epoxy base under a polyaspartic topcoat. The specification follows the slab inspection, the moisture readings, and how the space is used.
Frequently. Polyaspartic chemistry cures across a wider temperature range than standard epoxy, which makes cold-weather work viable in many unheated Dutchess spaces. Substrate temperature is the controlling factor and gets checked before scheduling.

“4 other contractors showed up, did their pitch, and then had to "go back to the office to prepare a quote" - 2 of them never responded and the other two estimates seemed high - George on the other hand showed up, gave me my options and provided a written quote right on the spot that was about 15% less than the other quotes and went on to do a superb job on my garage floor. I would recommend him highly!”
